About
The Center for Education of Microchip Designers (CEMiD) is one of the earliest
workforce development projects established under the National Semiconductor
Technology Center (NSTC) Workforce Partner Alliance program, and is part of the
broader strategy to revitalize and strengthen the US semiconductor workforce afforded
for by the Bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act of 2022.
CEMiD provides comprehensive training in the design, fabrication, and testing of analog
and digital microchips to engineering students and practicing engineers. CEMiD also
provides industry mentors, teaching materials, test equipment, and instructor training to
participating universities and colleges, thereby expanding the availability of chip design
training to a diverse array of students nationwide. Through these means, CEMiD aims
to train a highly skilled U.S. chip design workforce at scale, in order to match increased
semiconductor industry needs.
